The Omaruru River Basin is located in the central western part of Namibia and stretches over the Khomas, Erongo and Otjozondjupa Regions. This basin is one of the most urbanized and popular tourist destinations in the country. The Basin Management Committee was established in 2008 to undertake coordinated development and management of water land and related resources in the Omaruru River Basin. Their office is located in the Ministry of Labour and Social Services and is currently run by the Omaruru Basin Support Officer. The basin vision is: efficient and equitable access to water ecologically sustainable, integrated use of related resources in the Omaruru Basin to ensure wise management of basin resources to protect its biodiversity, vital ecological functions and life support system for the current and future benefit of the people living in and dependant on the resources of the basin.
